Best PS2 Split-Screen Video Games

1. James Bond: Agent Under Fire - One of the most fun offline multiplayer games on the ps3. Allows for 4 player split screen. Arcade type gameplay and if you switch on the "Q-Claw" option, each player gets a grappling hook type tool with which they can fly around the map in a spiderman-esque type of way.

2. Warriors - THE most fun Co-Op game i've ever played. You go around together beating people up, running from the police, throwing people in front of trains, jumping walls, breaking into vehicles, etc. Lots of fun mini-games you can play too. Seriously if you're still using ps2, GET THIS GAME regardless of whether you have someone to play it with or not.

3. Timesplitters - Any of them. This is just a shootem up game that is extremely arcade-style. One of the best parts of this game is that you can create your own maps to shoot around on. Also allows up to 4 player split screen as well as a 2 player Co-Op mode.

4. Lord of the Rings - Any of these. Play Co-Op, it's mad fun.

5. Rumble Racing - 2 player Co-Op. You progress through races, unlocking new vehicles and maps together. You pick up weapons during the races on weird and wild looking race tracks that you can use on opponents. There are jumps and shortcuts all over every level and you can do flips and spins off the jumps in order to gain "speed burst" powerups. Best Co-Op racing game out there for the PS2.

6. Burnout 3 - Awesome 2 player split screen game. You and a friend compete on various tracks with other computer players to either race to the end OR participate in a TAKEDOWN challenge. For each car you smash off the road (including eachother), you get 1 takedown. First to 10 wins. Races are over real quick so it's great to play with friends cause you switch off often.

7. Worms: Armageddon - You can play with up to 4 players with ONE controller. Turn-Based game that provides hours of fun. You are each a worm on crazy, fully destructable maps, and you have a plethora of weapons and tools to use in order to kill each other with. The NINJAROPE is the most fun tool in the game, allowing you to perform crazy stunts in order to pursue/escape each other.

8. Need For Speed Underground (1 or 2) - Split screen head to head racing is awesome. You can hit insane speeds using fully customizable cars. Probably the most fun mode though is the DRAG racing. Each round is real quick but real entertaining - great for when lots of people are in the room taking turns.

9. Crash Team Racing - Awesome 4 player split creen game - better than mariocart. Weapons are cool and creative, maps are crazy.

10. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - Good 2 player head to head. Fun maps. Very addictive game.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)

PROS

1. GRAPHICS - Seamless and realistic. Lighting is done really well too.

2. RANKING SYSTEM - The online ranking system is great - really gives you something to play for.

3. Points system (XP credits) are logical.

CONS

1. ONLINE MAP SELECTION - You cannot create a new public match, meaning if you want to play with other strangers, you have to play on whatever map the game has randomly selected for you. You can never really practice playing on specific maps.

2. SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN - This is decent but there is almost no strategy involved in the missions. You basically just have a shootem-up with group after group of enemies. At some points, the enemies are infinate until you complete a specific task. Also, you can't really control your team much (something SOCOM has allowed you to do in detail in their games).

3. CO-OP - Shoulda had one. Video game companies just don't seem to get that their target market is not solely a bunch of hermits that sit by themselves all day and play video games online with strangers (although these people most definately exist) There's a huge market for games that a group of guys can play at someone's apartment before hitting the bars at or that brothers can play together when they get home from school.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (PS3)

I've been obessed with the Grand Theft Auto series ever since III came out. The pure freedom you have in each of the games is what makes them great. This new edition (IV) stays true to that concept, but builds on it in interesting ways. Here are the major PROS of the game:

PROS

1. ONLINE - Playing online GTA is awesome. Although i WISH rockstar had allowed for split-screen gaming, this is a good start. Online play allows you, for example, to pile into a car with a bunch of other online players and drive top speed through an intersection riddled with enemies (while everyone in the car is unloading clips into the rival gang) Online play allows for insane chaos that doesn't exist in any other game.

2. CAR PHYSICS - Cars drive much more realistically and are much more destructable than in previous versions. For example, if your car rams (or gets rammed by) another car at top speed, an axel can sometimes become permanently bent causing a wheel to meet the ground at an awkward angle (very hard to drive with). Every window is breakable, cars do not explode just because they flip over, you fly through the windshield if you drive too fast into a wall, you actually have shocks, and you can't move a car by just walking into it as you could in previous versions. Although they did get rid of the gas tank in this version so you can't blow up a car with one shot of a pistol anymore which sucks.

3. MISSION REPEAT - If you fail a mission, you can automatically replay it without having to re-load or drive all the way back to the mission-provider's hangout.

4. SHOOTING - Guns are much more realistic all-around. Aiming and firing is extremely satisfying and much more useful (which is necessary because cop AI has improved. You can now shoot in any direction, at any angle out of your car while you're driving using a pistol or uzi. You can even throw grenades out the window. Also, you can post up against things to take cover while in gun battles.

5. WANTED ZONES - The fact that cops only look for you in a radius around where you have committed a crime or have been spotted is ingenius. No more cop car around every friggin corner when you're trying to lose your wanted level.

6. STORYLINE - Entertaining and thrilling.

7. GRAPHICS - Visually stunning - A+.

CONS

1. INSTANT REPLAY - They still don't have it. I want it.

2. MISSIONS - While they are really fun - they are a bit repetative (LOTS of assassinations). Some of them you just want to get over with in order to see what progresses in the story next.

3. ONLINE GAME SETUP - You can't automatically be the host for a public game. You are just assigned as a host once and a while. Therefore you can't really choose your game/map specifications unless you become lucky enough to be a host. STUPID. Should be set up like SOCOM for ps2.

4. BRING BACK WHAT WORKED - As I already mentioned, bring back the gas tanks in cars. bring back the two player co-op mini missions (even though they were so limited they were better than nothing), bring back legitimate gangs and the gang wars that always broke out on street corners in GTA III, BRING BACK AIRPLANES AND PARACHUTES, bring back bicycles, bring back customization of cars and their parts, and bring back the LARGE variety of clothing you could wear in previous versions.

All in all, this is a great game and definately worth buying - but somehow - there were a lot of things I was SURE they would have in this game that they simply did not.
